Learning – conditions, processes and outcomes. This subject requires a lot of reflection from the adult so that his vision to be in tune with the way the child’s mind works at each age. In this dialogue with Kyla, AMI trainer for 6-12 year olds, for many years a dear collaborator of the Montessori Institute of Bucharest, we explore the changes that children go through starting with the age of 6 and the adult’s attitude that encourages exploration, thinking and imagination. We discuss the child’s relationship with his own mistakes, why valuing the mistakes is fundamental in keeping openness and enthusiasm for learning process. Memorising has its place in the learning process and Kyla explains this without underestimating its role. We often confuse memorising with learning and evaluate the result of memorising and less the learning itself. What about abstraction? What actually is abstraction and how does the child get there?
